普拉哈斯憑藉劇情片《伊顺》（2002年）首登大銀幕，隨後憑藉愛情動作片《雨》（2004年）一鳴驚人。之後，他又出演了其他賣座電影，例如《領袖》（2005年）、《梦回两小无猜时》（2008年）、《王者踪迹》（2009年）、《亲密爱人》（2010年）、《完美先生》（2011年）及《刀劍若夢》（2013年）。其中憑藉《刀劍若夢》贏得了南迪獎最佳男主角。[11][12]

早年及家族
[编辑]普拉哈斯1979年10月23日生於泰米爾納德邦馬德拉斯（現金奈）的泰盧固家庭，父親是電影製片人烏帕拉帕蒂·蘇里亞·納拉亞納·拉朱，母親名為希娃·庫瑪麗（Siva Kumari）。他在家裡三孩中年紀最小，上面還有哥哥普拉博德（Prabodh）和姐姐普拉加蒂（Pragathi）。[3][19][20]他是演員克里希南·拉朱的侄子[3]。家族來自安得拉邦西哥達瓦里縣贝埃马瓦拉姆附近的莫加爾圖爾[21]。
普拉哈斯在金奈的唐博斯科高中預科學校及贝埃马瓦拉姆的DNR高中（DNR High School）完成學業[22]。隨後，他在海得拉巴的納蘭達學院（Nalanda College）完成了中等教育[23][22]；他繼續在海得拉巴的斯里柴坦亞學院（Sri Chaitanya College）攻讀BTech學位[24]。他也是维沙卡帕特南薩蒂亞南德電影學院（Satyanand Film Institute）的校友[25]。
