冰芯
外观

冰芯[1]是从冰盖或高山冰川中提取的岩芯樣本。由于這些冰是由每年积雪层层累积形成的,因此下层冰比上层冰更古老,冰芯中有不同年份形成的冰。冰芯中的杂质可能因地理位置而异。沿海地区更容易含有來自海洋的物质,例如海盐离子。格陵兰的冰芯中含有黃土层。
