鸟巢

鸟巢是指鸟类产蛋、孵化蛋和抚育幼鸟的地方。虽然鳥巢主要用于繁殖,但在非繁殖季节,鳥巢也是鳥的栖息场所。有些鳥巢只是用來棲息[1]。大多数鸟类每年都会建造新巢,但也有一些鸟类会翻新旧巢。 [2]
最小的蜂鸟巢为微型杯状结构,直径仅2厘米,高2-3厘米[3];而暗色塚雉建造的巢丘直径可达11米,高度近5米[4]。并非所有鸟类都会筑巢。有些鸟类直接将蛋产在地面或岩石缝隙中,而巢寄生鳥则会将蛋产在其他鸟类的巢穴中,让不知情的鸟承担抚育巢寄生鳥的幼鸟工作。
在大多数會筑巢的鸟类中,雌性负责大部分或全部的筑巢工作;在其他一些鸟类中,雌雄双方共同参与築巢;也有教少的鳥類是雄鸟负责筑巢,雌鸟负责鳥巢的內部完善。[5][6]
