(University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston)獲得神經科學博士學位,專攻睡眠研究。[1]

Education and Career
[编辑]Chang received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmacy from Kaohsiung Medical College and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmacology from National Cheng Kung University.[1] He later earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, specializing in sleep research.[2]
Chang began his academic career at China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, where he progressed from Assistant to Associate Professor. In 2005, he joined the faculty at the School of Veterinary Medicine at National Taiwan University (NTU).[3] He served as the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine from 2020 to 2023.[4]
He also holds several leadership roles at NTU:
- Director of the Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Center.[5]
- Chair of the Taiwan International Graduate Program in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience (TIGP-INS).[6]
Research
[编辑]Chang's research primarily focuses on the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms of sleep regulation and the neuropathogenesis of sleep disturbances associated with various neurological and psychiatric disorders.[7] His work has investigated conditions such as:
- Alzheimer's disease
- Parkinson's disease
- Depression and Anxiety
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)[8]
He is particularly known for exploring the effects of traditional Chinese medicine, such as Acupuncture and herbal compounds, on the treatment of insomnia and stress-induced sleep disruption. His team has also worked on developing novel therapeutic compounds, such as J4, which has shown promise in mouse models of sporadic Alzheimer's disease by reversing cognitive deficits and normalizing sleep patterns.[9]
Awards and Recognition
Chang has received numerous awards for his contributions to education and research, including:[10]
- National Innovator Award (multiple times)
- Outstanding Teaching Award (multiple times, NTU)
- Excellence Teaching Award (multiple times, NTU)
- Outstanding Mentor Award (NTU)
- Elite Award of Teaching & Research in Taiwan Veterinary Medicine (2014)
