戒疤
戒疤[1]又称香疤[2]，是汉传佛教净土宗、禅宗等派别的比丘受戒后留下的痕迹。 [3][4][5][6]汉传佛教以外的佛教徒没有这个规定[7]。这些汉传佛教比丘受戒时，别人会用艾条（北艾，也有的直接用线香[8]）放在他们的头顶和手腕，然后点燃艾条燃烧数分钟， [9] :506之后头皮会被灼伤，并留下疤痕。 [3] [9] :506 [10]不过这种做法具有危险性，可能会导致受戒者被感染。 [9] :507 [9] :298僧人身上的戒疤数量最少有三个，一般最多有十二个， [6][11]如果有比丘要接受菩萨戒，那他的戒疤就有12个。[2]据说也有人有十八个。 [10]戒疤一度是汉传佛教比丘受戒的标志，留下戒疤即意味着自己已受戒。[12]
历史
[编辑]戒疤的历史至少可以追溯到元朝 [6][11] ，明高僧传就记载释志德曾经留下了戒疤。 [10]
1983年12月，中国佛教协会表示戒疤并非是佛教本来就有的习俗而且有害健康，要求全国范围内的的比丘日后可以不用留下戒疤。 [10]不过仍然有比丘会自愿留下戒疤。[13]
