美国设计索引（英语：Index of American Design），是美国罗斯福新政下联邦艺术计划（英语：Federal Art Project）的一个专案。其对美国殖民时期早期到1900年的工艺美术和装饰艺术进行了实地考察及绘画记录[1]。参与该索引的艺术家们共创作了18,257幅美国装饰和民间艺术品的水彩画，现收藏于华盛顿特区的国家艺廊[2]。尽管这些作品由近400位艺术家于1935年至1942年间创作，但它更多地被视为文献记录而非个人表达，这也是它不如其他联邦艺术计划（英语：Federal Art Project）专案知名的原因之一[3]。此索引旨在以殖民时期至19世纪末创作的这些作品为基础，为美国现代艺术设计奠定基础并进行脉络分析[4][2][5][6]。

康斯坦斯·鲁尔克（英语：Constance Rourke）是该索引的总编辑和常驻学者[7]；露丝·里夫斯（Ruth Reeves）是其实地监督员。鲁尔克的兴趣部分源自于她对艺术家查尔斯·希勒（英语：Charles Sheeler）的研究[8][9]。克拉伦斯·P·霍尔农（英语：Clarence P. Hornung）的《美国设计宝库》（Treasury of American Design）就是该专案的衍生项目之一。作为创造就业机会的工具，该索引也为国内34州的约一千人提供了就业机会[10]。纽约大都会艺术博物馆受此影响也专门开设了“美国馆”[11]。
