Thread是一種面向物聯網產品的、基於IPv6的低功耗網狀網絡技術。[1] 雖然Thread協議規範可免費獲取，但用戶必須同意並持續遵守最終用戶許可協議。其中規定「要想實施、實踐和發布Thread技術和Thread Group規範，必須加入Thread Group。」[2]
Thread常作為Matter的傳輸方式（這種搭配稱為「Matter over Thread」），該協議已拓展到連接低功耗設備與智慧家庭設備等用途。[3]
組織
[編輯]Thread Group於2014年7月成立，是一個致力於將Thread打造為物聯網行業標準的組織，負責其開發、維護與推廣。[4] Thread Group為組件和產品提供認證，以確保符合規範。初始成員包括ARM公司、Big Ass Solutions、恩智浦半導體/飛思卡爾、谷歌的子公司Nest Labs、歐司朗、三星電子、Silicon Labs、Somfy、Tyco International、高通、耶魯。2018年8月，蘋果公司加入小組，[5]並在2020年末發布了它的第一個Thread產品HomePod Mini。[6]
特徵
[編輯]Thread使用6LoWPAN，而6LoWPAN又使用IEEE 802.15.4無線協議，支持Mesh網絡（2.4GHz頻段），如同ZigBee等系統一樣。不過，Thread支持IP尋址、雲訪問和AES加密。 谷歌還推出了名為「OpenThread」的Thread開源實現，採用BSD許可證，並由谷歌自行負責維護。[7]
用例
[編輯]2019年，由Zigbee聯盟（現為連接標準聯盟、谷歌、亞馬遜和蘋果）牽頭的互聯家庭IP(CHIP)項目（後來更名為Matter）宣布開展廣泛合作，創建免版稅標準和開源代碼庫，利用Thread、Wi-Fi和藍牙低功耗來促進家庭連接的互操作性。[8][9]
