姬啄木鳥亞科（Picumninae）是啄木鳥科的一個亞科，包含許多體型小的啄木鳥，它共有三個屬，即姬啄木鳥屬、非洲姬啄木鳥屬和棕啄木鳥屬，大多數分布於南美洲熱帶，但在亞洲和非洲也有極少量的種。新舊世界的姬啄木鳥在大約790萬年前開始分開進化。[1]
