这是基因信息框（Infobox gene）模板。信息框中的数据来源于维基数据。该模板的Lua语言的实现位于模块:Infobox gene。

在基因文章页面的使用

在基因文章页面顶部添加{{infobox gene}}。该信息框通过其所在页面的维基数据项填充。要查看链接到页面的维基数据项，请点击文章左侧“工具”菜单中的“维基数据项”链接。

在蛋白质文章页面的使用

在蛋白质页面顶部添加{{infobox gene}}。信息框的填充方式是：使用蛋白质的维基数据项查找编码的基因项，然后使用该基因项填充信息框。

在其它页面的使用

即使没有基因或蛋白质的跨维基链接，任何页面都可以显示信息框。必须将维基数据项明确添加为参数，并调用底层模块。例如，附加代码 {{#invoke:Infobox_gene|getTemplateData|QID=Q414043}}在任何页面顶部都会为基因络丝蛋白基因（RELN）创建一个信息框。QID是用于填充信息框的维基数据基因项。请将您感兴趣的维基数据项ID (QID) 替换为QID参数。

错误信息

“检索信息框的维基数据项时发生错误”（“An Error has occurred retrieving Wikidata item for infobox”）表示非基因/蛋白质维基数据项或不完整的维基数据项。

分类

包含此模板将自动根据基因的属性添加相关分类。这些类别包括“分类:人类蛋白质”以及与基因所在染色体对应的类别，例如“分类:（位于）人类第19号染色体上的基因”。除模板外，手动添加到文章的其他类别将照常运行。

Data structure of gene and protein data in Wikidata is a bit complex. Even if there is only one gene/protein article in Wikipedia, there are many data pages in Wikidata.

Basically Wikidata has distinct pages for gene and protein each, for respective species (See the table below). And pages are interconnected based on following rules.

• Wikipedia articles are connected to Wikidata's gene data page (#情况一) or protein data page (#情况二) through d:Help:Sitelinks. In most cases, articles are connected to gene data page.
• Gene and protein pages are interconnected through "encodes (d:P:P688)" and "encoded by (d:P:P702)" property claims (horizontal arrows "→", "←" in the table).
• Gene pages from different species are interconnected through "ortholog (d:P:P684)" property claims (vertical arrows "↑", "↓" in the table).

The data which infobox_gene shows to readers are collected from somewhere of this interconnected Wikidata pages.
