數個世紀以來，海戰中的艦船都是被無制導的炮彈所擊沉，但第二次世界大戰期間導彈的出現改變了海戰格局。1943年首次出現被飛機發射的制導武器擊沉的艦船，而直到1967年才首次有艦船在非測試環境下被另一艘艦船發射的導彈擊沉。這兩艘都是軍艦，但導彈也曾攻擊商船。在戰爭與和平時期，另有超過五十艘船隻被導彈擊沉。

本列表僅收錄被導彈擊沉的艦船，不包括被艦炮、魚雷等非制導武器或神風特攻隊MXY-7櫻花特攻機等有人操控武器摧毀的艦船。

背景

數個世紀以來，艦船一直都有配備投射式武器，特別是投石機，最終宋朝發明的火炮成為風帆時代海軍武器的典範[1]。而直到第二次世界大戰才出現對制導武器的運用，當時的同盟國和軸心國都開始研發精確制導炸彈這類精確制導武器[2]。首個投入實戰的是德國研製的「弗里茨X」滑翔炸彈。初期攻擊未獲成功，但在1943年9月9日，"弗里茨X"重創意大利戰艦「意大利」號（英語：Italian battleship Littorio）並擊沉戰艦「羅馬」號（英語：Italian battleship Roma (1940)），成為首個次成功打擊主力艦的戰例[3]。與此同時，配備火箭發動機的「亨舍爾Hs293」導彈也投入使用[4]。這些導彈於1943年首次投入實戰，成為首批擊沉軍艦的制導導彈[5]。

戰後，反艦導彈的研發持續推進，蘇聯和瑞典尤其重視艦載導彈的發展，將其視為增強小型艦艇打擊能力的有效手段[6]。1967年10月21日，埃及海軍艦艇發射的蘇聯制P-15「白蟻」導彈首次在實戰中公開擊沉艦船[7]。這一戰例促使包括「飛魚」在內的各類導彈迅速發展[8]。「飛魚」導彈在兩伊戰爭期間被大規模使用，尤其在油輪戰爭中成為伊拉克空軍的主要攻擊武器[9]。除國家行為體外，非國家組織也使用反艦導彈襲擊商船，形成新型海盜行為[10]。

為應對反艦導彈，軍艦配備了防空導彈、先進電子對抗系統（英語：Electronic countermeasures）和近迫武器系統[11]。
